Otis chandler

So I read the humongous obit for Otis chandler in the L.A. Times

Makes me more interested in returning to the book:

Privileged Son: Otis Chandler and the Rise and Fall of the L.A. Times Dynasty
by Dennis McDougal (2001)

(I'd only gotten as far as the 1920's or so. )

I don't know if there is much mention of the Baltimore Sun. (Of course, the Times Mirror corp. did buy the Sun.)

But my thoughts are with the L.A. Times, still a pretty good paper, but not what as substantive and thriving as it once was. (Probably the same for most newspapers.)

I grew up reading the L.A. Times in its heyday, which means that Otis Chandler was the publisher. Those were the days when LA and southern california were expanding and attracting attention around the world.

The No. 1 top 40 radio station, KHJ, called it "Boss City"...
