Sacred Games - Mumbai

It seems that NPR ran an interview this morning, of author Vikram Chandra about the parallels between his '07 novel, Sacred Games, and the recent Mumbai massacre.

That got me to remembering that I picked up a copy of the hardback edition, sans book jacket, this past summer or fall. It was on the bargain cart at my favorite bookstore for only $1. It seemed like a pretty good deal, even though I couldn't tell much about the contents.

I figured that at roughly .1 cent per page, I was getting more than my money's worth. (And, to some critics on Amazon.com, his writing and compositional style is only worth that much.)

But I also rationalized that I could add the book to my small collection of diasporic South Asian fiction. Plus, he's someone I'd seen in person. I saw him at a reading, a dozen years ago or more, when he was affiliated with George Washington U. in DC.
